Recently, a Class V student, belonging to Illandu, was stung by a scorpion while washing clothes in the Social Welfare hostel, where he is an inmate. The government residential school is housed in a leaky, old and dilapidated building located amidst green fields here.

The SC, ST boys’ hostel, housing 160 of them, has turned into a dumping yard with garbage generated in Aswapuram major panchayat and that at the weekly market dumped here, posing health hazards to hostel inmates. The students are not able to take food and sleep due to unbearable stench emanated from the garbage.
