Review: Chintu Ka Birthday On Zee5 Fails To Meet Expectations

Chintu Ka Birthday Movie Review: For those of you hooked to binge-watching these days, it's hard not to have come across the teaser of Chintu Ka Birthday. The movie is being streamed on Zee5 right now and had created a lot of buzz with its trailer. The premise and execution deserves a round of applause. Imagine how the filmmaker visualised Iraq and recreated the same in India. While the external disturbance is beautifully depicted via sounds, what happens inside the house is another interesting story. So Is Chintu Ka Birthday On Zee5 worth watching? Read on to find out...

The movie is set in 2004 when Saddam Hussain's fall in Iraq had just begun. Chintu's Indian family are in Iraq and he is excited about ringing in his birthday with his friends. However, Like they say things may not work out as per plan sometimes. Vinay Pathak, Tillotama Shome, Bisha Chaturvedi and Seema Pahva are seen portraying central characters in Chintu Ka Birthday. However, despite the presence of an impressive star cast, the movie fails to take off. At times, the viewer feels something is off.

Directed by Devanshu Kumar and Satyanshu Singh, Chintu Ka Birthday falls flat in some places even though the concept is interesting.A little bit of novelty could have taken the movie a long way. The entire movie is set in the interiors of the house but the lensman uses his full potential to capture the frames in creative ways.

Chintu ka Birthday verdict: Chintu ka Birthday has a good plot, but the maker's approach could have been better. The movie lacks crisp execution.
