Hyderabad: The four-day strike by autorickshaw unions demanding the state government for hike in auto fare was called off late in the evening on Tuesday after the government agreed to few of the demands. Fruitful talks were held with the JAC leaders delegation on the 11 demands. The government agreed partially to the demands.

Out of the several demands, the government agreed to revise the meter fare. The fare has been increased from Rs 16 to Rs 20.

And the fare for waiting period that was Rs 15 for 15 minutes has been raised to Rs 20. The fare per km also has been increased from Rs 9 to 11.

The strike was called off after the leaders of auto unions met the transport commissioner Ananth Ramu. In the evening the transport commissioner invited the Auto Unions JAC leaders who were earlier arrested in the morning. Regarding the demand to scrap GO 108, the Transport Commissioner said that the order reducing the Rs 1,000 penalty amount would be issued within a couple of days. With regard to the allotment of adequate number of auto stands, cancellation of e-challan system, action against vehicles transporting passengers illegally, tax exemption in respect of CNG autos, the commissioner promised to hold a meeting with the traffic police officials and a decision to this effect would be taken shortly.

On the issue of recalibration of meters, no auto would be allowed to ply without a meter. The delegation that met the commissioner included Mohd Amanullah Khan, A Sathi Reddy JAC leaders and others.
