New Delhi: Public sector lenders' employee unions on Monday threatened to go on a two-day strike fromFebruary 10. The union took its decision as they have been dissatisfied with the wage hike offer made by Indian Banks' Association (IBA).

United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) Convener, M V Murali said that the union has rejected the IBA’s offer of hike by meagre 0.5 percent to 10 percent on pay slip cost. During the meet it was decided by the UFBU to go on two day nation-wide strike from February 10 to insist for higher wage revision, said Murali.

General Secretary of National Organisation of Bank Workers, Ashwini Rana, said the unions were compelled to stage protest, as the offer made by bank management is not in line with the rising inflation.

It is worth recollecting that the staff of public sector banks had gone on a one-day nationwide strike onDecember 18 following the failure of the union’s discussions with IBA on wage revision on December 14. It is evident that the wage revision of public sector bank employees is due from November 2012.
