Of the 242 members of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament, as many as 12 members including 2 NRIs are nominated by the President of India for a complete term of 6 years. In the preceding session, Sachin Tendulkar and Rekha have been nominated by the president of India from his quota. However, the purpose of them being nominated to the Upper House is defeated.

After completing 2 yrs of their tenure, according to the information drawn from the Official website of Rajya Sabha, the duo has not even raised a single question in the house. They have not even taken any active part in the debates too.

Also, the duo has not even spent a single paisa, effectively for the welfare measures. Every Parliamentarian, including Rajya Sabha members gets a stipulated amount of Rs 5cr per year for development of their chosen area.

As far as Sachin Tendulkar is concerned, he chose to utilize the funds for the development of Mumbai sub-urban area. However, he has not even spent a single paisa, so far. Similarly, Rekha, the other Rajya Sabha member has also not bothered to spend the money. She is one step ahead of Sachin Tendulkar and has not even chosen the area of development.

The President of India has been bestowed power of nominating as many as 12 members to include the elite people from various sectors, who otherwise can never get entry into the Parliament through political parties. However, if such people who are nominated by the President don’t use their power and positions, the very purpose of such a special privileged bestowed with the President will be defeated.
