Jagan demands KG basin share to Seemandhra, YSR Congress Party, Jaganmohan Reddy. Under these circumstances, Jagan said there was no guarantee on implementing the assurances by the next government at the Centre.

Hyderabad: Demanding the Centre to transfer the Union government’s gas share in the KG basin block to residuary State to meet the fuel requirements for the generation of power, YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday shot off a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee urging him to see that all the concerns of Seemandhra people were addressed and the promises made by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were delivered.
He said that the special status for the residuary State of AP, fiscal measures including tax incentives in order to promote industrialisation and economic growth and rehabilitation and resettlement for the evacuees of Polavaram project were not mentioned in the Bill.
Under these circumstances, Jagan said there was no guarantee on implementing the assurances by the next government at the Centre. The YSR party leader also said that the ownership and the operational modalities of dams, Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar dam should be clearly defined along with boundaries.
There was also no mention in the Bill as to the funds required for building new capital and as to how it would be funded. The Centre should also give a time frame for the completion of the capital at its own cost.
He pointed out that the special category status of five years would not serve any purpose as the minimum gestation time to set up industry was three to five years and any engine of growth like Hyderabad to be created to compensate for the revenue gap would take at least 20 years or even more.
The YSR party leader also enclosed a detailed note on State revenues and the impact of bifurcation on Seemandhra in addressing the economic issues.
