Meerut: A 42-year-old doctor was beaten to death near Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly by three young men in his neighbourhood, after he protested against his daughter being harassed by them.
The doctor, Indresh Parashar's relatives have alleged in a first information report that he was attacked last night when he was returning from his clinic.
Police said three brothers named Nishu, Rahul and Mayank allegedly assaulted the doctor with metal rods, sticks and clubs.
Dr Parashar ran to a gymnasium nearby to escape them but the three allegedly caught up with him and beat him up badly and then ran away.
The police took the doctor to a nearby nursing home, where doctors said he had died.
One of the brothers has been arrested and their father, Ashwini Sharma, a neighbour of Dr Parashar. The police said the doctor had complained to Mr Sharma that his sons often harassed his daughter.
