Telangana state: Countdown begins

Hyderabad: Just a few days are left for the appointed day of the evolution of two states from Andhra Pradesh – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Telangana will be emerged as the 29^th state of India on June 2. As the appointed day has been close to, the officials of the secretariat have intensified the process of division of assets.

The Chief Secretary CS Mohanty has now been concentrating more on the matter of bifurcated related aspects. He reviewed the situation and issued guidelines for the same, accordingly. By now, he has obtained the reports from all departments. Apart from a few departments and employees options issue, almost everything has reached the concluding stage. All major sectors including Education, Medical and Irrigation et al have reached the final stage and set ready for bifurcation.

Even the home department is set ready for division of the state by now. DGP Prasada Rao has called on Chief Secretary Mohanty in Secretariat and explained the latter on the entire issues that have been completed as far as home department was concerned. It is learnt that DGP has given a brief on law and order, Traffic, CID, and Intelligence related issues to the Chief Secretary. The greyhounds and Octopus departments will continue to be common for first three years to either state.

From the other end, CS Mohanty called on Governor ESL Narasimhan and explained him of the current status of issues. They discussed regarding the office blocks to be spared for Andhra Pradesh secretariat and other government offices. The government has ordered to prepare a list of employees based on their nativity. A temporary list is supposed to be submitted by April 30 to the Financial, customary governance departments. Also, the deadline for the distribution of assets, deciding of borders, allocation of buildings and infrastructure, IT sector and various other issues turns to be April 30.

The most crucial issue of employee’s option would be decided only after the poll, according to sources.
