Narasaraopet: The polling to 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in 13 districts of Seemandhra on Wednesday witnessed several incidents of violence and clashes between YSRCP and TDP activists, resulting in the death of one person. Nerla Desaiah was killed in a clash between activists of the two parties at Inugantivaripalle in Seetanagaram mandal of East Godavari district.

Police fire in the air:  Tension prevailed at Ramireddypalem village in Rompicherla mandal of Guntur district when YSRCP leaders pushed out a BJP agent from the polling centre. Police lathi-charged to chase them away. To control the situation, a constable opened one round of fire in the air. Rural SP Satyanarayana who rushed to the spot said a case would be registered against those sent the agent out. He praised the constable.

The vehicle of Narasaraopet TDP MP candidate Rayapati Sambasiva Rao was stoned at Basikapuram. Luckily, he escaped unhurt, though the vehicle was damaged.

TDP demands re-polling: YSRCP leader and Rollamadugu sarpanch Purru Nageswara Rao along with his followers attacked with weapons TDP agents at Balarajupalle and Pedduru polling centres. TDP activists Venkatarama Raju, Seetarama Raju, Raghurama Raju, Balaramaraju and Krishnamanaidu sustained severe injuries. While they were being shifted to Rajampet government hospital, YSRCP activists attacked the vehicle. TDP Rajampet Assembly candidate Mallikarjuna Reddy reported the incident to election officers, RDO and SP. He demanded re-polling in the two polling centres. Later, he consoled the injured at the hospital. The victims alleged that the YSRCP received support from the poll staff and police.

4 TDP activists hurt: YSRCP leaders distributed cash to woo voters of Srikalahasti Assembly constituency at Ramachandrapuram in Thottambedu mandal of Chittoor district. The TDP activists tried to stop them, leading to a clash between the two groups. Four TDP supporters were seriously injured, while two others suffered minor injuries. The injured were admitted to the government hospital at Srikalahasti.

Home guard YSRCP agent: A home guard was appointed YSRCP agent at polling booth No.119 in Chandragiri of Chittoor district. Following a complaint by TDP police took him into custody.

Media attacked in Narasaraopet: YSRCP activists attacked at Rangareddypalem in Narasaraopet mandal of Guntur district representatives of ETV and ABN channels involved in poll coverage. They tried to take away video cameras.
