Hyderabad: Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has been unanimously elected as the first speaker of residuary Andhra Pradesh. He was the only MLA to file nomination on Thursday; and the opposition party YSRCP has also supported his nomination.

In view of this, Kodela has been elected as the speaker of the state assembly, unanimously at 9.22 a.m. on Friday. Kodela was nominated by Chandrababu Naidu based on the seniority. The same was discussed with Yanamala by Naidu.
Yanamala, in turn called on YS Jagan and got his acceptance also to nominate Kodela. YS Jagan has also signed on the nomination papers. Kodela along with many senior leaders of TDP went to the assembly secretary Satyanarayana and submitted the nomination papers.
