AP asks T to begin Eamcet counselling, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao to see that the process of counselling for EAMCET begins immediately.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao to see that the process of counselling for EAMCET begins immediately.
In a letter to his counterpart, Naidu said that there was an urgent need to resolve the issue in the interests of the students. Naidu said that the AP government was ready to take up the counselling process for admission in the colleges for the academic year 2014-15. He said that as per the directions of the Supreme Court, admission to professional courses should be completed by July 31 and the classes should commence from August 1 every year. It may be mentioned here that the Telangana government had recently approached the Supreme Court challenging the common admission process in the educational institutions for the two successor states. The T government has been demanding replacement of the present system with a new one allowing only Telangana students to get admission in the colleges in the T state. Naidu said the students of both the States were getting worried over the delay and were migrating to colleges in other states, which would cause financial and psychological burden to the parents and affecting colleges of the states adversely.
Naidu said his government was ready to take up the counselling process as it had already approved the necessary amendments in the government order for category B admission and the consent of the Telangana government was awaited in this regard. The Category B seats shall consist of 30% of the total intake of seats in each course in respect of unaided non-minority professional institutions. They shall be open for admission to all the eligible candidates on merit basis including candidates belonging to other States and Union Territories and NRIs.
