Guru Purnima Celebrated. Devotees of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, famously known as Amma, observed Guru Purnima with fervour at Mata Amritanandamayi Math at Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad, on Saturday.

Devotees of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, famously known as Amma, observed Guru Purnima with fervour at Mata Amritanandamayi Math at Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad, on Saturday. The celebrations started with the ‘Maha Ganapathi Homam’ followed by ‘Guru Paduka Pooja’ of Mata Amritanandamayi.

This was followed by ‘Maha Sarvaiswarya Yagnam’, for world peace. “Guru Purnima is the day when great sage Veda Vyasa was born. Sage Vyasa encoded the sacred scriptures, the Vedas, which are the base of the Sanatana Dharma, the Eternal Religion (Hinduism),” said Raghunath. He was also the author of the epic Mahabharata. Students of Amrita Vidyalayam performed the Samskrithi Pooja with the intention to kindle the spark of ethnicity. Dignitaries like Chandravadan, Ramesh Kumar, secretaries to the Governor, and hundreds of devotees took part in the celebrations.
