Jwala Gutta stands by Maria Sharapova over Sachin issue

Hyderabad: Media has created much hype about the comments made by Maria Sharapova that she was not aware who Sachin Tendulkar was. It was the hot news for not less than a couple of days in the media. The tennis player was criticised by people from across the world. Nevertheless, Jwala Gutta, a prominent Indian Badminton player, stood by the tennis player and viewed the entire episode of making her comments controversial by the media as a foolish act.

According to Gutta Jwala, Cricket is played only in 12 countries while Tennis and Badminton have played in as many as 200 and 150 countries, respectively. The Americans do not know anything about Cricket, said Gutta. Further, she wondered that there was no reason why Sharapova should be criticised, while asking the fans of Sachin that what was wrong if Sachin was not known to Sharapova.
