The deceased include his wife Rajeswari (28), daughter Yasaswini (3), son Navneeth (2) and mother-in-law Jayalakshmi. Before the three elders committed suicide by hanging, the couple allegedly strangled the children to death.

Jayalakshmi asked her son, Kranthi (17), to drop her husband Srinivasulu at the railway station in the morning. When he returned, he found them dead. His screams alerted the neighbours who informed the police.

Babu ’s family had been residing in the colony along with their parents. The trader was said to have been struggling to repay the loans. Seeing his plight, his mother-in-law arranged the credit.
