Warangal: Indian Flag Formation Day was celebrated here on Tuesday under the aegis of Rotary Club Hanamkonda, as part pre-Independence Day celebrations.
A massive rally from District Collectorate to Public Gardens was taken with 250ft long National Flag. About 1000 students of SNS, Vidyaniketan, Alive, Karunya, Viveknanda, Bapuji, Raman and Scholar’s High Schools participated in the event.
The rally was flagged off by District Collector G Kishan. Kendra Sahitya Academic awardee Ampashayya Naveen, Hanamkonda Rotary Club president K Indrasena Reddy, its secretary A Ravindranath, District Revenue Officer Surendra Karan, social worker Nimmala Srinivas and others were present.
Addressing the gathering the collector said that the national flag after many changes was approved in its current form on July 22, 1947. Everyone must remember and respect Pingle Venkaiah who designed the flag he said and explained the significance of the flag.
At Public Gardens, officer on special duty (OSD) Amber Kishore Jha distributed prizes to the winners of essay competitions conducted by the Rotary Club.
