He expressed his deep condolences for the bereaved families while addressing the media and made an immediate announcement of grant of Rs 5L towards the ex-gratia. Also, fixing up of the railway gate within a week was assured by Harish Rao.

Further, Harish Rao blamed the railway department for the untoward incident occurred at Masaipet, early on Thursday. He held it as a complete negligence of the railway department and wondered why the public concerns of not providing a gate at the railway crossing was not heed to. He said that Railway department should own the responsibility.

Of the 21 injured students who were shifted to Yashodha hospital in Secunderabad from Masaipet, 2 students lost their lives while undergoing treatment. Also, as confirmed by the doctors who are treating the injured students, the condition of 14 students is very critical.
