Anantapur: On the first day of his two-day visit to the district, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, during his tour of Puttaparthi constituency, announced that the government was planning investments taking advantage of the self-groups’ funds, like a share market, for increasing its revenue.

Interacting with members of the Prashanti District Samakhya, Naidu pledged to allocate Rs250 crore to the Hundri-Neeva project, complete its phase one to change the district’s face and also to build highways linking Anantapur with the new State capital. He said one of the 11 Central universities to be allotted to the State would be located in the district. Besides, institutes like IIT would be established.

The CM declared that the government was firm about making every poor woman able in social, economic and political spheres to make AP poverty-free. It was striving to allot interest-free loans to SHGs, with the aim of making them free of loan burden.

While hitting out at Opposition, he described the Congress as a party ‘known for looting’ and the YSRCP ‘irrelavant’. Hailing Anantapur as a solid TDP support base after west Godavari district, he said the government would give priority to their development. He accused TRS in Telangana and YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh of hindering development.

Naidu promised to make Anantapur drought-free in five years. A groundnut commissionrate would be set up in the district. He advised women’s organisations to attack belt shops and, if necessary , opt or registration cases against them. He said the ‘Badipilustondi’ programme to take off in the State on July 25 would be launched from Puttaparti.

Representatives of women’s organisations of the district handed over a cheque for Rs.1 crore to him for building the new capital. Later Naidu held road shows upto Vengalamma Cheruvu, Tamballapalli, Nallamada and Kadiri.
