Woman dies of burns, A 24-year-old woman, who was allegedly set ablaze by her husband at Talabkatta in Bhavaninagar, died here on Sunday morning. Police identified the woman as Shahnaaz Begum, wife of Md Layeeq, a resident of Amannagar in Talabkatta.
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman, who was allegedly set ablaze by her husband at Talabkatta in Bhavaninagar, died here on Sunday morning. Police identified the woman as Shahnaaz Begum, wife of Md Layeeq, a resident of Amannagar in Talabkatta.
According to Bhavaninagar detective inspector, P Shankaraiah, Layeeq used to suspect Shahnaaz's fidelity and pick quarrels with her. On Friday, neighbours heard Layeeq and Shahnaaz quarrel over some money. He asked Rs 500 from his wife to which she refused. An argument ensued between them which took a nasty turn. In a fit of rage, he poured fuel over her head and set her body on fire. She was immediately rushed to Osmania Hospital for treatment where she succumbed to her burn injuries on Sunday morning. A case has been registered against Layeeq under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. Further investigation is underway.
