N Chandrababu NaiduHyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who rode to power assuring to make the residual State a major IT hub in the country, has assured an investment of Rs 50,000 crore in the IT sector that would fetch employment for about four lakh people in the State by end of 2020.


Unveiling the blueprint for IT, Electronics and e-Governance for the state, here on Monday, the Chief Minister said it was prepared with a vision to transform AP as an innovation society of global repute giving special focus on good governance.

Stressing the need for mission mode approach for enhancing industrial production, Naidu said the three missions have been identified as Electronics and IT Mission, Innovation and Capacity Building and e-Governance. The proposals also highlight having 18 policies and frameworks for the growth of IT industry in the state.

IT Minister, Dr Palle Raghunadha Reddy, who was also present at the release of the document, said as per the expert advice the electronics sector policy is targeted to attract investments in the range of Rs 50,000 crore that may create an employment of about 4 lakh in the state.

The policy is aimed at setting up of 20 Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) and 200 manufacturing units across Andhra Pradesh. Reddy further said that Chandrababu Naidu’s vision is to encourage at least one entrepreneur and one IT literate from each of the household.

The minister said the innovation and start-up policy highlighted the need to develop the entrepreneurial skills among the students. It is proposed to have a start up village with 100 Incubation centres and 5000 start ups and entrepreneurs.

IT advisor J Satyanarayana and Secretary Sanjay Jaju, during their presentation highlighted the importance of upgrading the present curriculum in technical education in the state, in order to match with the needs of the industry.

The chief minister also indicated that a committee be formed in concurrence with the higher technical education department to study and understand the global requirements of the industry and recommend the necessary changes in the course curriculum.

Nadu also stressed on the two policies-Electronics and Innovation & Start-up policy at the earliest and start working on attracting investments into the State.
