Energy-efficient pilot project gets AP nod, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday gave his nod for taking up pilot projects to carry out sample survey by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) in the domestic and farm sectors.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday gave his nod for taking up pilot projects to carry out sample survey by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) in the domestic and farm sectors. The initiative is aimed at giving a thrust to the energy efficiency and conservation programme, said an official release here on Tuesday.

This is a major initiative towards energy efficiency and conservation activities which is crucial for sustainability of power sector and helps in providing quality power supply to consumers.

Responding to a proposal made by the commission, the Chief Minister has permitted the EESL to carry out a sample survey in Srikakulam, West Godavari, Guntur and Anantapur districts as pilot project for taking up of DSM based Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) in all households.

The Chief Minister has also agreed to engage EESL for taking up a sample survey in Rajanagaram Mandal in East Godavari District for replacement of inefficient non-ISI pump sets where the feeder segregation takes place. Based on the sample survey, a detailed project report (DPR) will be submitted by EESL on replacement of around 36,000 agriculture pump sets in 13 mandals.

Apart from it, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development department is also contemplating to go for efficient street lighting whereever there is a huge scope for energy savings.

A joint venture of four public sectors, NTPC, PFC, REC and Powergrid, has assured the Chief Minister to invest between Rs 500 crore and Rs 1000 crore for replacement of inefficient agriculture pump sets with efficient pump sets without any financial burden on the farmers.
