Women should not laugh in public: Turkey Deputy PM

The world needs more of laughter and less of cribbing. Speaking of moral corruption, Deputy PM of Turkey Bulent Arinc said, "Chastity is so important... She will not laugh in public."

This has prompted a big repercussion from women on social media. Thousands of women are posting their photos laughing and smiling on twitter with hash tags “kahkaha” meaning laughter, “direnkahkaha” meaning resist laughter and direnkadin meaning resist woman

Several Turks suggested the government should focus on issues like rape, domestic violence and the marriage of girls at a young age - rather than women’s laughter in public. Many men in Turkey have joined in the condemnation of the deputy prime minister.
