Actor Suriya in ‘Sikindar’Actor Suriya, who commands a good following in Telugu, said that his forthcoming film ‘Sikindar’, dubbed version of Tamil action-drama ‘Anjaan’, is more than a gangster film. “I was taken aback when Lingusamy (director) narrated the script to me. Especially the opening sequence, the interval bang and the climax attracted me. It’s a light-hearted and stylish film,” said the actor. He was speaking at a promotional event of the film in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The versatile actor added that he missed an opportunity to be directed by Lingusamy on multiple occasions in the past. “I was to do his debut flick, but couldn’t because of my dates. I even couldn’t do ‘Pandem Kodi’, but he never felt that I avoided him. I’m glad that we’ve finally collaborated for ‘Sikindar’,” said the actor who essays dual roles in the film.

He further added that his younger brother Karthi wanted him to join hands with the director. “He advised that working with Lingusamy will be nothing short of a picnic.”

Lingusamy who accompanied Suriya to the event said the film was predominantly shot in Mumbai. “It’s my biggest budget film till date. Cinematographer Santosh Sivan played a key role in wrapping up the film in 99 days. The Tamil audio is topping the Indian charts,” he said.

The film, a story about a younger brother in pursuit of his elder brother and friend, will hit the screens on August 15 in Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It will be clashing with NTR-starrer ‘Rabhasa’ in Telugu land. L Sridhar and N Subhas Chandra Bose are jointly releasing the film in Telugu.
