Guntur: If false promises were made, the YSR Congress Party would have captured power in Andhra Pradesh, said the party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy here on Thursday. He came here to review the elections results and seek out reason for the debacle of the party in the recent Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagan remarked that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu can stoop low for the sake of power. Apart from false promises Naidu had made, three media houses had campaigned for him and installed him on the chief minister’s seat.

The deception played deception on the people and it was now being exposed bit by bit, he said. The Telugu Desam Party leaders were finding it difficult to visit villages now. The TDP, which came to power by promising waiver of farm loans, had left the farmer in lurch. The farmers were in a distressing state, he said.

Naidu, Jagan pointed out, had been passing the time by lying through his teeth day in day out. He recalled that that the TDP chief had promised to waive off loans owed by the DWACRA woman after he came to power. But he had failed to do so and now he was saying that the government could waive just Rs 1 lakh loan only.

He stressed the need for strengthening the YSRCP at the grass root level.

He would seek suggestions from everyone on how to strengthen the party, he said. Leaders and activists of the party from Guntur East, Guntur West, Prathipadu, Tadikonda, Ponnuru, Tenali, Vemuru and Repalli Assembly constituencies attended the meeting.
