KCR speaking at a one-day workshop in Hyderabad on FridayHyderabad: The Telangana State government is embarking on a mega survey on a single day August 19 to identify exact figure of households in 10 districts of the State.

Speaking at a one-day workshop for Revenue officials (MROs, RDOs), which was also attended by Principal Secretaries, Collectors, Joint Secretaries and other senior officials here at a city hotel on Friday, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao explained the importance of the survey and asked the officials to undertake the job with commitment and dedication.

He pointed out that because of irregular issuance of ration cards and mistakes committed in previous surveys, several thousands of crores of public money was lost in the name of fee reimbursement, ArogyaSri and housing schemes.

This should not be repeated at any cost as the 'State consolidated public fund' drawn from public was involved in this and said the government should act like a ‘trustee’ in proper utilisation of these valuable fund.

“Not a single ineligible person should be extended government scheme meant only for poor. TRS government will ensure this at any cost,” he felt. KCR further directed the Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to release Rs 2 crore to each district for conducting survey. After completing the survey, each official in a village should hand over survey papers in the mandal concerned. Immediately the data would be computerised by deploying required number of data entry operators and programmers, the Chief Minister added. Once this survey was digitalised, the figures of each village, mandal and district would be made available to the employees at grassroots level to state level, he said. He observed that this survey would also give an idea about exact number of government employees working in Telangana region, which, he felt, was not thorough even at this moment. He also instructed the Revenue authorities to compare government lands with records. Any corrections or missing statistics should be updated. Meanwhile, RDOs and MROs would a meeting at mandal level on August 11 on the exercise. About 4 lakh employees will be put on the job of enumerating all the households in the State.
