Hyderabad: Telangana State Minister for Information and Technology K Tarakarama Rao on Friday asserted that the government would provide all necessary support to the Metro Rail project.

Speaking at the launch of the first batch of post-graduatge course in Metro and Rail Technology by the Institute of Metro and Rail Technology, KTR said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on ensuring that the metro rail project was completed in time. The Chief Minister, he said, wanted the metro rail authorities to explore any alternate alignment at a few places so as to project the heritage structures. The metro network should be increased from the present 72 km to 250 km as Hyderabad wass projected to grow to a mega metropolis in the next 20 years, he said.

The government would be developed as an investment destination in various sectors such as science, pharma, films, sports etc. Besides, it was also exploring a Light Rail Transport System (LRTS), he said.

HMR MD N V S Reddy said technical studies were on to look into possible alternate routes to avoid Legislative Assembly and Sultan Bazar. L&TMRH, concessionaire building the elevated project, would be informed, if the government took any decision to change alignment.

TS government had full rights over the project, he said. The Union government’s project monitoring group in the Prime Minister’s Office can only review projects.
