Hyderabad: The issue of political murders rocked the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the second consecutive day. The main opposition YSRCP members and the ruling party members not only indulged in a wordy duel but also came to near blows.

While the leader of opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy felt that there could be nothing more important than the lives of people, the ruling party members questioned where his concern vanished when several TDP workers were killed by Congress workers between 2004 and 2009 when his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was in power.

Ministers K Atchannaidu, D Uma Maheswar Rao, Ganta Srinivas and Y Ramakrishnudu lashed out at the YSRCP and said that the opposition was trying to hold the Assembly to ransom. They said the government was ready to discuss all the political murders that took place from 2004 to date.

Amidst accusations and counter accusations, YSRCP MLA Chevi Reddy Bhaskar Reddy moved menacingly towards TDP member Chintamaneni Prabhakar.

A physical clash was prevented by timely intervention of members from both sides.

The ruckus was so intense that the assembly was adjourned to Wednesday after three adjournments. Earlier, the Speaker told the YSRCP that the discussion on law and order was listed under rule 344 for Wednesday. But the YSRCP said the government was running away from the debate.

How can it take up discussion on Wednesday when the budget is to be presented, they questioned.

Repeated pleas by the speaker to cooperate for the smooth function of the House fell on deaf ears and the agitating members holding placards continued sloganeering.

Mounting an all-out attack on the YSRCP, government whip D Narendra alleged that several TDP members were killed during YSR’s tenure.

Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu intervening in the issue expressed that the opposition party does not seem to have faith in law and order outside as well as inside the House.
