Canards make Telangana people sleepless in a row, Hyderabad: On Wednesday night there have been rumours spread around in Telangana, making people sleepless the entire night. Most of the people in Khammam, Nalgonda and Warangal district remained awake and even came out of their homes onto the roads.

It is learnt that the rumour spread around notified the people that they would die if they sleep on Wednesday night.
It is evident that just a mere canard about an earthquake that began its journey from a village in Adilabad district on Tuesday midnight has spread around all over Telangana within no time and frightened the people of the entire state. The buzz went around within minutes and the technology use has been palpably seen to prove the mobile communication is not only a one-one communication but a sort of mass communication with the characteristic of immediacy. The canards that started at 3 a.m. on Wednesday were at its peak from 3.30 a.m.
The state government has clarified that there was no indication of an earthquake on the Richter scale and urged the people to not believe in the grapevine. These two incidents pose a question on the misuse of technology as well as on the deep rooted superstitions in the society even in this technologically advanced era.
