“The delay in post production has pushed our film ‘Rabhasa’ to August 29 from the original intended release of August 15,” said producer Bellamkonda Suresh recently. However, it looks like there’s more to it than meets the eye.

Looks like the lavish launch pad for his son’s debut flick ‘Alludu Seenu’ has left producer Bellamkonda Suresh in a total financial mess. While he has paid 70 per cent of NTR’s fee, he still owes him Rs 4 crore besides big money to financers. If he falters, he needs to lose all hopes of ‘Rabhasa’ opening on August 29

“The delay in post production has pushed our film ‘Rabhasa’ to August 29 from the original intended release of August 15,” said producer Bellamkonda Suresh recently. However, it looks like there’s more to it than meets the eye. Apparently, according to sources close to the project, we hear the film may not even make it to the screens next Friday. This is due to the financial problems that the producer is going through.

States a source, “Besides Rs 4 crore to NTR, Bellamkonda will also have to shell out a big sum to pay financiers. Only when this is sorted, the film may release globally. A clear picture regarding this will be issued on Thursday.”
Why is the producer suddenly in financial doldrums, considering his latest production ‘Alludu Seenu’, has hit the bull’s eye? “It was promoted as a film that succeeded at the box-office, but it hasn’t really. Suresh has gone overboard with the promotions of the film and it has cost him dearly. He is now paying the price,” adds the source.
However, a statement from the producer via a press release said that all is well. “We are planning to celebrate the success of the film’s music shortly. ‘Rabhasa’ will release on August 29,” he said.
On the other hand, realising that the release of ‘Rabhasa’ is in trouble, actor-producer Akkineni Nagarjuna has advanced the release of his son Naga Chaitanya-starrer ‘Oka Laila Kosam’ to August 29. It was to hit the screens on September 5 initially. “The film was completed a long time back but the team waited for a right date.
Now that ‘Rabhasa’s chances of making it on August 29 are 50-50, Nag thought it best to bring his production forward. It would also give him a chance to avoid clashing with Ravi Teja-starrer ‘Power’ which is due for release on September 5,” said a source close to Annapoorna Studios, while adding, “However, Nag may go back to the original date if producer Suresh finds a solution to his financial problems.”
