In a monstrous crime, a 22-year-old footpath cloth vendor was repeatedly gang-raped by three men in a farmhouse in Tippegondanahalli on Wednesday. According to the Taverekere police, two men identified as Arun Gowda, 24, and Kempa, 36, had picked up the victim who is from Bihar, in their car from Majestic around 8 p.m., under the ploy of dropping the victim at her house in Vijayanagar. At the along with the caretaker of the farmhouse, Mahadeva, all three accused discretely took turns to rape her. As per the victim’s complaint, all the three accused were drunk while committing the crime.
The victim managed to escape from the farmhouse in the early hours as the two accused had left and Mahadeva was in a state of drunken stupor. The vitcim grabbed the chance and ran outside the house leaving her clothes behind. A cab driver picked her up, brought her to the police station where she was provided clothes and a complaint was registered.
The police instantly registered a complaint and took her to the scene of the crime and found Mahadeva in the farmhouse. He was immediately arrested while Arun Gowda and Kempa were arrested later and the cab driver was made witness in the case.
In the meantime, sexual assault complaint was lodged by a 13-year-old mentally challenged girl’s mother at Srirampura police station. According to the police, the victim was raped by her father about three or four months ago by her father who is absconding ever since. On the day of the incident, the grandmother of the victim had seen Shanmugam raping the girl through a window at their house. The victim however is not in a position to talk or give a statement about what happened to her as she is mentally challenged. But, she has been sent for a medical examination about the assault. A complaint and the accused has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act.
In another dreadful crime, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her own paternal uncle Amjad (32), a carpenter in R T Nagar. The incident came to light only on Thursday after the girl’s grandmother filed a complaint. Police said the victim was staying with her accused and his family for the last four years after her parents expired. The girl was alone at home when the incident took place, as the accused had sent his wife and children to relative’s house in Rajagopalanagar.
A 27-year-old woman accused that she was raped and cheated by a first-division clerk named Ravi Kumar (42), who works in Upparpet DCP’s office. She has filed a petition with the Deputy Commissioner of Police North East and said that Ravi Kumar promised to marry her and had physical relationship with her. She claimed in her complaint that she was now three months pregnant.
