Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday made it clear that there was a marked departure in his style of governance as compared to his previous stint of nearly nine-year rule.

Addressing a workshop of Telugu Desam Party’s elected public representatives, Naidu said this time it would be political governance in the State and not bureaucratic governance. “We are in a democracy and, hence, we are accountable to the people,” the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said.

This comes as reply to the allegations being made by the opposition YSRCP that Naidu was giving more importance to political style of governance and wants the bureaucrats to take note of the aspirations of the politicians. Naidu said he wanted the bureaucrats to take note of the issues raised by the public representatives and see how best the issues could be addressed because it is they who are constantly among the people.

Hence, he said, he had now decided that it would be political governance in the State. We don’t want bureaucratic governance. Naidu said political governance was the need of the hour as the State was left with a host of problems due to bifurcation. “Bureaucratic governance is one which is run by Chief Secretary, Secretaries, Collectors, IAS and IPS officers. We don't want that. At the end of five years we have to go to the people again and seek their mandate. We are accountable to the people. So, it will be political governance in the State, he said.
