Hyderabad: The prime accused in the alleged gang rape of an 18-year-old girl at a farmhouse at Shaheennagar under Pahadishareef police station limits on July 31 has been arrested on Thursday, police said on Friday.

The arrested have been identified as Faisal Dayyani, 26, a gym instructor, Khadar Barakba, 25, Md Parvez, 25, Syed Anwar, 19, and Md Ibrahim, 19, all residents of Saroornagar, and Tayyab Basalama, 20, of Barkas.

While the six of them allegedly gang-raped the girl, the other two, Ali Barakba, 63, and Salam Hamdi, 24, also of Saroornagar, were arrested for harbouring and helping the accused in the crime.

According to police, the victim and her fiancé had gone to the farmhouse at Shaheennagar on July 31 around 2.30 pm. Faisal, Khadar, Parvez, Syed Anwar, Ibrahim, and Tayyab with an intention of robbery scaled the farmhouse wall and gained entry by thrashing the watchman when tried to resist them. Later, they assaulted the girl and her fiancé, and gang raped her. They took pictures with their mobile phones of the incident. When she resisted, they threatened her with snakes. They robbed Rs 6000, a gold chain, a gold ring, and took two pair of sunglasses from them before fleeing.

Since the accused threatened to post the videos and photos in social networking sites, the fiancé and the girl did not disclose the matter on July 31. Finally, they gathered their courage to complain to the police who in turn took up investigation, the police said.


Police formed a special team and arrested Tayyab Basalama, Md Parvez and Md Ibrahim on August 7 while Khadar Barakba, Syed Anwar and Khaja Ahmed were arrested on August 11. Finally on Thursday, police arrested Faisal Dayyani along with Ali Barakba and Salam Hamdi and seized the incriminating material. The accused who have been arrested under Section 376 D, 323, 395 and 506 of the IPC, have been remanded to police custody.
