MP seeks Bhimavaram as 'town of export excellence'
Senior TDP leader Thota Seetharama Lakshmi, MP (Rajya Sabha), on Friday urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to notify Bhimavaram as \'town of export excellence\'.
Rajahmundry: Senior TDP leader Thota Seetharama Lakshmi, MP (Rajya Sabha), on Friday urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to notify Bhimavaram as 'town of export excellence'.
In her meeting with Naidu at Hyderabad, she said that of the total 41 aqua exporters in AP, 14 were located at Bhimavaram. It had immense potential of fisheries exports. But the town was neglected for the necessary basic infrastructure, an official release said.
She submitted a memorandum to Naidu requesting him to take up the issue with the ministry. The CM assured that he would take all necessary steps. Earlier this month, Lakshmi had met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Seetharaman and took up the matter.
‘Under the Central government scheme, which says an area/cluster exports worth Rs 1,000 crore, it can be notified as 'town of export excellence,’ she said.
