Mother Teresa, the founder of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, is presently active in 133 countries in the world. Whosoever is a member of the order must adhere to the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, apart from the fourth undertake, to give "wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor".

It is not a mere hyperbole if someone says that Mother Teresa has boosted the assessment of both Bharat Ratna and Nobel peace prize, for it was these awards that were privileged to be conferred upon Mother Teresa and not she who was flattered by the conferment of these awards upon her. In 2003, she was beatified as "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta". A second wonder credited to her intercession is required before she can be recognised as a saint by the Catholic Church.

Mother Teresa was not an exception for controversies during her life and after the death. She was widely admired by many for her charitable works, but also equally criticised, particularly for her campaigns against contraception and for substandard conditions in the hospices for which she was responsible.

In India even the birthday of the just upcoming hero/heroine gets much attention through the Satmass media and print media. But, unfortunately no media ever paid attention for years to promote the humanitarian fortitude shown by a great personality of the nation, Mother Teresa. Why it is so? Give it a thought folks!!
