KOLAR: Police claim to have cracked the murder case of a home alone woman, who was found dead on August 11 at her residence in Amaravathi Nagar of Bangarpet.

The deceased, Manjula (23), a mother of two, was the wife of Railway Police head constable Ashoka.

The police have arrested a class 10 student for the murder. Police said the boy murdered Manjula and escaped with her ornaments to buy a touchscreen mobile and a two-wheeler.

According to KGF SP H R Bhagavan Dass the boy used to be Manjula’s neighbour a few years ago. On August 11, when Manjula was alone at home the boy went over. He told her he was on the way to school.

Manjula offered him a cup of coffee. A little later, the boy asked her for a glass of water.

He quietly followed her into the kitchen, caught hold of her and slit her throat with a blade, killing her on the spot, the SP said.

On interrogation, the juvenile revealed that after murdering Manjula he had gone to Hoskote, and travelled to Tirupathi and Salem in Tamil Nadu, SP Dass said.
