Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday had cleared the final design of the flyover to come up at Kanakadurga temple here. The flyover is estimated to cost Rs 220 crore and the project report is being sent to the Central government for clearance. The National Highways Authority of India had already agreed to construct the flyover.

The Telugu Desam took up the issue of flyover during the Congress regime and Chandrababu Naidu held a protest on June 25, 2012. The flyover was the prime slogan of the TD during the last elections. Traffic woes to end soon..

Living up to the promise, the TD had held series of talks with the NHAI officials and the State government. Though the Congress promised an outer ring road for the city to divert the NH vehicular traffic, the TD insisted on flyover.

MP Kesineni Srinivas took initiative and had coordinated with Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, local MLAs, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Gadde Ramamohan Rao, besides the Minister for Transport, Siddha Raghava Rao. It was during the last week, that Siddha Raghava Rao had cleared the proposal which was then forwarded to the Chief Minister. “The Chief Minister had cleared the final design and it would be sent to the Central government soon. The flyover would become a reality in next two years,” asserted Srinivas.
