Hyderabad: With Medak being poised for a triangular contest, all the leaders of contesting political parties are girding up their loins to fight the by- elections scheduled to be held on September 13.

While the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the party leaders to take it as prestigious election and see that the party candidate wins with a record majority, MP K Kavitha and Minister T Harish Rao questioned the BJP over its alliance with TDP, which is considered to be anti-Telangana party.

Kavita also took objection to the BJP fielding T Jagga Reddy as its candidate. “Jagga Reddy is known anti-Telangana leader. He put up a stiff opposed to the division of the state. He is a turncoat” they said. They took pains to driver their point home that TRS candidate Prabhakar Reddy has been with the party since beginning.

Reacting to it, the TDP leaders A Revanth Reddy said the TRS seemed to have been suffering from hangover of it victory. The party should understand that despite odds, the TDP had polled good number of votes and had won fairly good number of seats. KCR, he said, after coming to power had ignored the promises he had made to the people. The BJP said Jagga Reddy was originally a BJP man and he had started his career in ABVP. He was the only man who could take on KCR and hence the party fielded him when he expressed his desire to stage a home coming, Telangana BJP president G Kishen Reddy said.

Meanwhile, the Congress candidate Sunitha Laxma Reddy said the party campaign would centre on issues like failure of the government to implement loan waiver, resolve power crisis and prevent farmers’ suicides and deteriorating law and order situation. She said KCR still continued to talk like a leader leading an agitation.

The TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah and leader of opposition K Jana Reddy will jointly monitor the party campaign, Congress sources said.
