Malla Reddy, Malkajgiri MP and Malla Reddy Group of Institutions chairman, has reportedly issued an order to stop issuing college certificates to passed out students as the fee reimbursement and nativity issues have not been resolved yet. This despite the fact that the students have laboured for the success of Malla Reddy from Malkajgiri.

Scores of students passing out of the private engineering and business management institutions in Telangana are at the mercy of the college managements as they have been refusing to issue their certificates. Fresh out of college, business management and engineering students, after securing jobs in MNCs, are required to submit their certificates once their results are out.

Earlier the college managements issued a bonafide certificate stating that the student belonged to the college. The custodial certificate was also attached which referred to the certificates deposited with the college and the semester results. The copies of the originals are attached to the custodial certificate.

Malla Reddy, chairman of the educational group and Malkajgiri MP, has reportedly issued a diktat 10 days ago to stop issuing certificates to former students of engineering and business administration as there is no clarity on the nativity issue.

This move has left about 5,000 engineering and 15,000 MBA final year students in quandary as they miss golden opportunities in the job market or can’t purse higher studies in India or abroad.

Ramya, (name changed), an MBA student joined an MNC with the custodial certificate issued by Malla Reddy College. After she applied for a passport, she again approached her college for another certificate, but this time the management curtly refused to issue any certificate as the chairman’s diktat was in force.

The girl went back to her workplace and persuaded her superiors to spare her certificates for securing her passport. Thankfully, the request was accepted and she would be able to secure her passport.

Another student, Pramod said that his college refused to issue certificates even after the government website mentions that his fee was reimbursed by the state government.

“The college promised to issue only original degree certificate but not MBA certificate,” he lamented. He was informed that his MBA certificate would be issued after the dust over the fee reimbursement controversy settles down.

Meanwhile, Osmania University authorities have clarified that the original certificates were sent to the colleges recently.

Some describe the move of the college as an attempt to bring pressure on the students and their parents to pay up the fee through their nose for getting their certificates. According to sources in the college, in a pre-emptive exercise on Saturday, all notices relating to such a move have been removed from the notice board.
