APSRTC moots tariff hike

Vijayawada: The APSRTC is preparing ground to increase the tariff once the bifurcation process is completed. The proposed hike is to cover up the losses incurred by the corporation particularly during the last five years due to the separatists' agitation and the increased burden of diesel prices.

APSRTC Managing Director J Purnachandra Rao during an interaction with the media on Sunday indicated the move to increase the tariff and maintained that people too should share the burden to help the world's best transport PSU survive. He further said that the hike would not be a burden on the people, given the quality of services being provided by the RTC.
