Rajahmundry: Former minister and Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi addressing the Congress party workers in Kakinada on Sunday said that the TDP was trying to save its face after it failed to implement the improbable promises it had made during the elections.

The meeting organised in Kakinada on Sunday to rejuvenate party has drawn the attention of large number of workers as well as leaders. APCC president N Raghueveera Reddy and veteran actor Chiranjeevi attended the meeting where a large number of Chiranjeevi fans were also present in the wake of buzz that the actor was giving re-entry into films.

Chiranjeevi observed that the real face of the TDP was emerging three months after elections. He made it clear that only the Congress could protect people and was preparing to take the side of people by launching agitation from village level. He found fault with both the BJP and TDP leaders for claiming that Polavaram project has become reality due to their efforts. He did forecast that farmers’ suicides would return if government failed to implement loan waiver properly. “Chandrababu Naidu would be held responsible in such cases.”

He lamented that people have believed the wrong notion created by all parties that the Congress was alone responsible for the bifurcation of the State. He appealed to the people to note that all parties were equally responsible for the bifurcation. He regretted that Congress leaders like N Kiran Kumar Reddy who enjoyed top positions have betrayed the party.

Former PCC president Botcha Satyannarayana said that the party would stand beside people even though the elections were not in near future. He made it clear that the party has resolved to explain the failures of the TDP government to the people and confront the government from village level.

Speaking on the occasion, PCC president Raghuveera Reddy observed that BJP, TDP and TRS which came to power were reeling under insecurity feeling. He criticised that all the three parties were in no position to fulfill their poll promises. Recalling the TDP campaign during elections that job would knock on your doorstep if Babu came to power with sarcasm, he said that letters of sacking of jobs were knocking the doors after Babu coming to power. He made it clear that the Congress party would prevent the gold deposited by women in banks to obtain bank loans from getting auctioned. He gave an ultimatum that the Congress cadres would stage an agitation in front of banks from September 8th if the banks failed to stop the auction of gold before September 6th.

Later, the leaders have conducted internal meeting with the party workers of 19 assembly constituencies and called upon them to make efforts to strengthen the party.
