This Staurday, the entire day, the Ganesh idol was decorated with currency notes totaling a huge Rs 1,00,06,789. For seven days, the idol was planned to be festooned with a variety of themes. On Saturday, the theme was ‘Aishwarya Ganesh’. As evident, ‘Aishwarya’ denotes opulence and the residents ensured that the Ganesh idol would fully depict that.


It is learnt that people gave money in various denominations from Rs 1,000 to Rs 50 denominations. There were about Rs 10,000 notes of Rs 500s, Rs 5,000 notes of Rs 1,000 denomination, Rs 50 notes of Rs 100, Rs 20 notes of Rs 50. Some even gave notes of foreign currency.
