Jwala’s academy faces wrath of parents

Hyderabad: The much-hyped commencement to the ambitiously chalked out badminton academy plans of doubles specialist Jwala Gutta seem to have hit starting problems.

It was widely believed that she would occupy the KBVR multipurpose indoor stadium in Yousufguda at an early date. However, she did not reckon that trouble was brewing ever since the time she was allotted the stadium to pursue her academy interests. The stadium has been a regular for kids and even seniors from diverse disciplines, most notably basketball, table tennis, roller-skating, self-defence martial arts and, of course, badminton. Parents of hundreds of children, who train there, sat on a dharna at the entrance denouncing the decision to allot the space to Jwala’s academy, which meant death-knell to the dreams of the youngsters who had made the stadium their base. Most lamented that this show of highhandedness. Although those into badminton have been asked to continue with their practice, the parents fear fear that the fee would be jacked up. Players into other disciplines have been asked to look at other options.

One is not sure if this was the ‘baptism’ that Jwala Gutta had dreams of.
