Hyderabad: The Bathukamma festival, which symbolises rich culture of Telangana State, will be held in a never seen before manner this year. TRS Government has decided to release Rs 10 crore for organising Bathukamma on a big scale in ten districts. Further, four women Chief Ministers, Central Ministers and noted personalities from different fields besides an international women celebrity will be invited for 'Saddula Bathukamma' fete to be held on October 3 at Tank Bund, marking the culmination of nine-day colorful festivities.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao held a review meeting in this regard with senior officials of various departments on Friday. Nizamabad TRS MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who has been organising this festival under her cultural wing Telangana Jagruthi for the last few years, also took part in the meeting.

The Chief Minister directed officials to leave no stone unturned as far as arrangements for the festival were concerned. He told electricity and municipal departments to deck up historic monuments and State government buildings with LED lights besides putting up hoardings and posters at key junctions on the eve of the festival.

Rao noted that Saddula Bathukamma would be held at the picturesque Tank Bund on October 3, a day before Dussera festival. Around 25,000 women will descend at LB Stadium to prepare Bathukamma (decorated with colorful flowers on a plate). From there they would organise a rally carrying Bathukamma on their head till Tank Bund.

KCR directed authorities to clean up lake surroundings, keep swimmers and ambulance teams on stand-by in all districts on the final day when Bathukammas would be left in the water. .

Rao said the he would personally invite four woman chief ministers-Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), Jayalalithaa (Tamil Nadu), Anandi Ben (Gujarat), Vasundara Raje (Rajasthan), Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, former IPS officials and social activist Kiran Bedi besides Arundhati Roy and Medha Patkar to attend Saddula Bathukamma fete to get a glimpse of the rich Telangana culture.
