According to Additional Public Prosecutor Mahajabeen, complainant Aggi Shyamala (25) married the accused, Aggi Kumaraswamy (27), of Saraswathi Nagar, in the town, on May 26, 2010. Kumaraswamy allegedly resorted to harassment for additional dowry and accused her of "infidelity". He alleged that his second daughter, Pandu, was not his child.
On June 29, 2013, he dipped the girl in a bucket of water and acted innocent. Shyamala searched for her child and found her dead in the bucket. After she lodged a complaint, the Karimnagar Rural Police registered a case. Kumaraswamy was shifted to the Karimnagar district jail.
