Khammam: Mystery shrouds death of six-year-old Sai Nishanth Varma. The body of Sai Nishanth was found in a decomposed state in the bushes near Balapet tank in Khammam urban mandal on Sunday.

The police have formed three special teams to probe into the death of Sai Nishanth. The police are also probing to find out if the boy was killed following some financial disputes.

However, as the boy’s body was found in a decomposed state, the police suspect that those who took the boy along with them on September 11 must have killed him on the same day. Hence, the police opined that the accused did not have the intention to kidnap the boy and demand his parents to pay ransom for his release.

The police found Nishanth’s belt at some distance away from the body in the bushes. They suspect that the accused might have strangulated him to death with the belt. The police also found match boxes and liquor bottles at the scene of offence. They suspect that the accused might have spent some time at the place after committing the crime. The dogs used in the probe were leading the police to a shed located in a nearby mango garden. The accused might have washed their hands and legs at the tap located near the shed before fleeing the place.

Sai Nishanth was the son of Chandrika Kishore, a native of Machilipatnam in Krishna district, and Komaladevi. Kishore is working at Standard Chemical Company in Hyderabad and the family is living at Chintal in Hyderabad. The couple also has a seven-year-old daughter Joshmitha. Komaladevi went to Khammam along with his son Sai Nishanth to visit her sister who was undergoing treatment at a local private hospital. Komaladevi took his son to the hospital on September 11. The boy went out of the hospital room to play. However, as he failed to return, his mother searched for him. But she could not find him. The CCTV cameras at the hospital revealed that the boy went out while playing.

The police are of the view that some known persons might have taken Sai Nishanth away from the hospital. The boy’s parents went into a state of depression following his death.

Komaladevi’s sister Devi Sai got married three years ago to Madhu Kumar, a chilli merchant, who belonged to Khammam. This was the second marriage for Madhu Kumar and he took divorce from his first wife.

Madhu Kumar and Devi Sai have no children. The relatives informed the police that there was a proposal within the family that Madhu Kumar should adopt Sai Nishanth. The boy’s family members also welcomed the proposal as Madhu Kumar belonged to an affluent family.

However, some relatives of Madhu Kumar opposed the proposal. Parents of the deceased revealed this to the police and suspected their hand in the killing of their son. It is learnt that the police secured evidence which indicated that financial reasons led to the killing of the boy.

The CCTV camera footage also revealed that the boy was playing at the hospital till the afternoon on September 11.
