The game of soccer has taken an entirely different angle with the newest tweak to the game. Bubble Soccer – the world’s latest adrenaline-infusing sport – has arrived in India and soon would be coming to Hyderabad.

Convergence Events Pvt Ltd, an event management company based in Mumbai, signed exclusive intellectual property rights with International Bubble Football Association (IBFA) to get the whackier version of soccer in India.

What on God’s green earth is bubble soccer, you ask? It is a five-a-side soccer game that requires a minimum play area of 20 x 15 m and can be played either indoor or outdoor. It is a 30-minute game with five minutes of bubble ensconcing, 10 minutes each half and 5 minutes of break time, according to Sharma, who is also the director of international relationship, IBFA.

“It is hilarious watching guys chase a soccer ball and bounce around upside down with their legs in the air. Some bubbles, a lot of enthusiasm and a mood to go crazy, that’s all you need. It’s a harmless sport with no room for injury or accidents,” said Kamlesh Sharma, founder and managing director of Convergence Events Pvt Ltd.

Bubble Soccer is currently being played in many countries like Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Lebanon, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Scotland, Sweden, Spain and Poland.

“Bubble soccer will keep you bouncing in excitement. It’s about smashing into each other, bouncing and rolling in the grass, indoors or even on the beach, in inflatable zorb light balls. You would be laughing too hard to keep a tally, and it’s one of the safest sports,” he informed.

Apart from Hyderabad, the event management company will be holding this game at various cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Goa, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nasik, Nagpur, Pune, and Surat.

“We would have corporate team building events, school and college activations and more to familiarise them with the sport. The property in the form of a championship would commence in January, with sponsorship opening up very soon. This would also prepare a team to represent India for the Bubble Soccer World Cup,” Sharma added.
