Vijayawada: The MPs belonging to the TDP and BJP on Saturday decided to work as a pressure group to secure aid from the Centre. A marathon three-hour joint meeting of TDP and BJP MPs, held here, resolved to strive for welfare of Telugu-speaking people in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State. The MPs said they would help both the AP and TS governments in presenting their problems to the Centre and exert pressure on the authorities concerned in Delhi to resolve them.

Emerging out of the meeting, the BJP State president and Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha member K Haribabu said the MPs had reviewed the issues relating to development programmes. They would review the schemes constantly and decide where their intervention was required to ensure that development projects do not suffer from want of funds. The MPs also decided to seek deputation of some senior officers from the State to work in Delhi to help the MPs identify issues concerning the two States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Haribahu thanked the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking measures to make Andhra Pradesh a power surplus State. The State had initiated steps to increase over 6500 mw of power in the State, he said.
The TDP MP Thota Narasimham said the MPs had resolved to coordinate with the State and the Central governments to improve the rail, road and other infrastructure facilities in the State.

The MPs said they would keep meeting at different places in the State at regular intervals and review the developmental works. They had also resolved to identify issues which required Centre’s assistance and the MPs would take them up with authorities concerned in Delhi.
