Ministers intervene, Naidu loses cool
Two ministers in the AP Cabinet came under the firing line of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday for their over enthusiasm during a video conference.

Hyderabad: Two ministers in the AP Cabinet came under the firing line of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday for their over enthusiasm during a video conference.
Naidu lost his cool as the ministers intervened while he was giving instructions to officials on construction of public toilets and monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to women members of Self-Help Groups who are above the age of 60. He was also discussing some other welfare programmes to be launched from October 2.
The Minister for Information Technology, Palle Raghunatha Reddy, joined the video conference from Anantapur and started a long speech on how the toilets should be constructed in rural areas. An irate Naidu cut him off, saying the minister should know that the video conference was meant for the benefit of the officials and not to seek advice from the ministers.
A little later, the Minister for Social Welfare, Ravella Kishore Babu, who joined the video conference from Guntur, wanted permission to seek clarity on the guidelines to implement welfare schemes. A visibly angry Naidu told him, "Kishore Babu, it is not the forum for ministers to express their views or seek clarity on welfare schemes. The purpose of this video conference is to issue guidelines to officials at grass-roots level. Ministers should know they have different forums like Assembly and Cabinet meeting to discuss government schemes.”
The Social Welfare Minister once again requested Naidu for a little time. Naidu shot back saying, "If you people speak now, officers will not find time to express their doubts or seek clarifications. I want to interact with the officers directly," he said.
This came as a shock for both the ministers since Naidu normally does not chide his ministers in public.
The video conference was also utilised to prepare the district-level officials for the proposed 'Janmabhoomi - Maa Vooru' programme, which the State government is planning to launch from October 2 along with several other welfare schemes like enhanced pensions, NTR Sujala Sravanti, NTR Arogya Seva, Community Health Insurance Scheme for the people below poverty line, and others.
