A dharna was staged by model farmers in front of the office of the ADA here on Monday protesting the TRS government’s decision to abolish model farmer system.

Peddapalli (Karimnagar): Model farmers have staged a dharna in front of the office of the Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA) here on Monday protesting against the TRS government’s decision to abolish ‘Adarsha Rythu’ system in the state. A model farmer, Shankar, said that the State government’s decision to do away with model farmer system was unfortunate. He stated that model farmers had been providing valuable services to the farmers for the past several years. He alleged that the TRS government was hatching a conspiracy against model farmers. Another model farmer, Kistaiah warned the Government to intensify protests if it went ahead with abolition of ‘Adarsha Rythu’ system. He said model farmers were creating awareness on social welfare schemes like farm loans and irrigation among farmers for all these years.

Huzurabad (Karimnagar): Model farmers organised dharna at Ambedkar cross roads here on Monday demanding the state government to withdraw its decision of abolishing model farmer system. They raised slogans against the TRS government. Model farmers from Huzurabad, Veenavanka, Jammikunta and Kamalapur mandals have also participated in the dharna.

Khammam: Model farmers participated in a dharna organised by the Adarsha Rythu Sangham in front of the office of the Joint Director of Agriculture (JDA) here on Monday opposing the State government’s decision to abolish the system of model farmers. The Adarsha Rythu Sangham district president Samineni Ramu and other leaders have participated in the dharna. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the JDA Bhaskar.

Mancherial (Adilabad): A dharna was staged by model farmers in front of the office of the ADA here on Monday protesting the TRS government’s decision to abolish model farmer system.

A model farmer, Tirupati, said that model farmers were providing valuable services and suggestions to farmers for the past seven years. He said it was unfortunate that the State government has decided to appoint diploma holders by removing model farmers. He demanded the state government to utilise the services of model farmers by providing training to them.
