Warangal: The first Telangana State-level three-day ‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (Inspire)-2014 exhibition was off to a colourful start at Bishop Beretta School in Kazipet on Monday.

As many as 1500 students and guide teachers from across the 10 districts of the State will present an estimated 765 scientific exhibits at the exhibition that concludes on Wednesday. Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary inaugurated the event.

MLAs D Vinay Bhaskar and B Kishan Naik, District Collector G Kishan and SCERT Director S Jagannadha Reddy addressed the students during the inauguration ceremony. District Educational officer S Vijay Kumar, education department Regional Joint Director Y Balaiah, District Science Officer Keshava Rao and others were present.

The Inspire exhibition was earlier held in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati in the past in united Andhra Pradesh. The State-level event is being organised for the first time in Warangal district after the formation of a separate State of Telangana. Following the inaugural ceremony, the guests have visited the exhibition and inspected the exhibits. The Speaker, the MLAs and the officials interacted with the students and secured information about the exhibits. Speaking to press persons on the occasion, MLA Vinay Bhasker praised the creativity of the students and their talent. He said an exhibit on chain link tank system of Kakatiya period was really enlightening.

Similarly, a gadget devised and put on display could automatically close the gates at railway level crossings when a train moves through it and another device made by students from Warangal district would shutdown four wheelers if the driver was found drunk, he explained.

“These ideas are creative and could prove of great use if practically put to use,” the MLA said.

Cultural programmes presented by students on Batukamma were an added attraction.

Assistant Joint Collector K Krishna Reddy, Warangal RDO D Venkata Madhava Rao, science communicator V Gurunatha Rao, Bishop Beretta, Headmaster Aga Reddy and others were present.
