Hyderabad: A crucial task force meeting on Hyderabad Metro Rail Project would be held on September 26 under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to iron out differences between the Telangana government and the concessionaire L&T.

The chief secretary Rajiv Sharma, who heads the task force on Hyderabad Metro Rail, would seek opinion from the top executives of L&T for resumption of works.

The meeting assumes significance after the L&T threatened to walk out of the Rs 16,000-crore project over the differences with the Telangana government over realignment of track near the heritage Assembly building and Sultan Bazaar. L&T expressed ire due to lack of clarity on the issues from Telangana government.

Meanwhile the top officials rushed to New Delhi after the Centre sought status of the project. Rajiv Sharma and B V Papa Rao, advisor to the government met the Union Cabinet Secretary and the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and conveyed the government’s commitment to the project and explained the progress of the works.

On the other hand, the Telugu Desam Party Revanth Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had allotted prime land meant for the Metro Rail Project to a businessman close to him and sought a probe.

He alleged that the TRS government took over 32 acres of land at Gachibowli earmarked for construction of multi-level parking for Metro and allegedly handed it over to My Homes Group while HMR MD NVS. Reddy denied that the land was allotted to any business group and they were in possession of the land.

The TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah demanded that the Industrial Infrastructure Corporation should clarify the issue. While the government said that it has nothing to do with the GO being quoted by TDP and that it was issued by the previous government in united AP, My Home chairmen J Rameshwar Rao has threatened to file a suit against TDP leader.

However, the officials of HMR say that there was no great significance to the Friday meeting. The officials said that the task force meets once in three months to review the progress of the works and sort out any pending issues.
